The little-known Marselan is a grape variety created in 1961 by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache Noir. Destined for planting in the Rhône Valley and Languedoc, it brings both colour and structure to red wine blends.
Domaine Tariquet introduced it in Gascony in 1999…but uses it in a completely different manner. As opposed to blending it to bring body and structure to a red blend, it stands alone as a rosé. So was born Contradiction, where yields are kept small and the Marselan can show a more delicate and refined expression.
